Since 2024, our center has been commissioned by the K–12 Education Administration, Ministry of Education, to implement the“Food and Agricultural Education Demonstration Schools and Regional Support Network Project.”The project aims to establish a regional support network and gradually expand the selection of demonstration schools—including elementary and secondary schools as well as community colleges—to promote food and agricultural education with a focus on curriculum integration, localization, and systematization. The initiative is designed to deepen and scale up year by year.

The project outlines seven core implementation components:

  • 1.Promote the curriculum integration, localization, and systematization of food and agricultural education.
  • 2.Facilitate collaboration between local farms and community networks to support demonstration schools.
  • 3.Establish “Market Schools” that provide urban students with enriched food and agricultural learning environments.
  • 4.Develop regionally distinctive food and agricultural education programs.
  • 5.Build demonstration bases for food and agricultural education.
  • 6.Encourage the incorporation of local ingredients into school lunches and related educational activities.
  • 7.Create platforms for dialogue and knowledge exchange.

Building on the outcomes of the first year, the project will in its second year (2025) continue to expand the network of demonstration schools in the Greater Hsinchu Area while deepening the regional support structure. In addition, two expansion regions, Miaoli and Kaohsiung, will be selected to pilot the initiative. Local lead teams will be trained and supported to conduct small-scale trial implementations, with plans for broader rollout once the operations reach maturity.

At the end of 2025, the project will expand the Food and Agricultural Education Forum and Carnival. In addition to showcasing the achievements of demonstration schools and the support network, it aims to bring together diverse resources and facilitate experience sharing to further enhance the effectiveness and capacity of regional platform collaboration.

This project emphasizes both demonstration and practical implementation. While steadily growing the demonstration school network and accumulating regional impact in the Greater Hsinchu Area, it also seeks to share and adapt the regional support model to facilitate the scaling and deepening of food and agricultural education across other regions nationwide.
